What are we wasting our lives on?
It's gotta be something. Are you wasting your time, energy, and finances on your pets, your cable television bill or by simply sitting on the couch? Are you wasting your time partying? Are you just meandering in nothingness? What do these time and life wasting activities accomplish? Very little to nothing my friends.
I am personally guilty of watching too much cable television (hermit-style) in my studio, while endlessly reading social media and news articles on my iPhone and iPad. In my defense, reading is healthy for your brain.
Folks, our actual alive time on earth is finite and limited! We only possess so much physical energy and resources to expunge. Why waste them walking around some animal on a leash, with plastic dog poop bags in your pocket, only to then be forced to manually pick up dog feces. I'm gonna be honest, I don't get the allure or rewards from pet ownership. No thanks on pet ownership in this personal opinion corner.
Have you ever calculated the exact number of minutes and hours you are wasting in your life? For example, I overhead there is a method or APP in current times which can measure your screen time. Too much screen time equals not enough exercise, and real-world activities. The simple solution is to just leave your house for a couple of hours and go outside.
I don't think time-wasting activities such as television watching, caretaking pet ownership, and couch sitting are evil. I'm simply suggesting alternative methods to glorify your life!
My humble suggestions and alternative to wasteful life ineptitude is actually HUMAN RIGHTS activism. Spend your energy on human right's causes. In modern times, your fellow downtrodden and stigmatized humans could use your financial support, emotional energy and cause head perseverance. In lieu of taking your pet out for a bathroom break at the park, or sitting on your couch for another "binge" Netflix session, how about joining your fellow humans at a non-profit organization. Maybe a non-profit organization which has a mission statement you feel justified advocating for. Be the good you seek in the outside world.
In modern times, post-Supreme Court Obergefell v. Hodges, in the year, 2015, Gay Citizens were granted the fundamental right to become married if they so chose. What if you joined an organization that stood up for GAY RIGHTS? That would be admirable and impressive! Recently the Bravo Talk Show and Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen adopted a child and became a new parent via surrogate at the age of 50 years old. Thus Andy Cohen is a newfound single dad. I read somewhere that Andy Cohen, threw one last goodbye party to his previous non-parental lifestyle. Moving forward, Bravo's TV star and friend of CNN's Anderson Cooper of CNN's (Anderson Cooper is also gay and out) I predict Andy Cohen will struggle and prosper with the challenges of parenthood, just like the rest of society.
Instead of having to smell your cat's litter box, or grab another bag of Cheetos to watch televised sports, what if you supported the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and helped advocate for the removal of Presidents Trump's rampant Child-Parent Border Separation Policy. For some odd reason, the USA Homeland security department thinks separating immigrant parents from their actual children and placing them in internment camps is a good idea. Really? What is this, Germany in the 1940s? Come on America we are better than that. It's time for kinder and revised new USA Immigration policy.
Here's another idea, how about instead of spending your own hard earned money on drunken nights out at the bars, you spent it towards a noble nonprofit cause? You could donate your booze money towards programs which assist and rehabilitate the homeless, global warming reductions, raising the federal minimum wage, or perhaps programs and organizations that support single parenthood or child adoption agencies.
Are you envisioning with me, all of the awesomeness, you could exude with your newly found free time and energy? Are you with me yet?
The world and America are filled with good-hearted people, excellent non-profits, and human right activists assisting needy people. You just have to find them, and then actually do something about it. People are so dam glued to their phones and screens while scrolling away their hourglass sands of life. I wonder if people actually DO anything anymore? Are we morphing into the walrus species folks?
Here's a human activist example, how do Alcoholics start with their road to recovery? Is it with a pet? Is it by watching television? Is it by serenading one more bar? NOPE. It is with a viable Human Support Group. A 12 Step Program and Human Mentorship of accountability. If you are lonely, join a meetup group for people with similar interests. My financial adviser and successful businessman Uncle is a huge advocate for volunteering and networking. His selfless ability to give his own family man time and caring expertise away for free, somehow magically comes back to him in return tenfold. My uncle professes the importance of letting society view your individual personas in different and enlightening angles. People can feel and notice the goodness in your soul. So like one of my favorite musicians and lyricists, David Gray, "let it shine."
